Richard A. Bender, CPA
Rick graduated from The Ohio State University in 1966. He then worked at Peat Marwick Mitchell through 1969 and at Laventhol & Horwath through 1976, primarily engaged in auditing medium sized private and public companies. Under David Cohen, Rick expanded his skills to enable him to deliver the full service needs of CBG's clients. Over the years, Rick has continued as a generalist who is able to identify and respond to the many varied needs of his clients either directly or though the cooperation with other professionals. Rick is a Past President of his synagogue, an 1800 family congregation, and a non-profit organization, the Guardians of the Los Angeles Jewish Home. Rick is a member of the Board of Directors of the Jewish Homes for the Aging. Rick is also a member of the International Board of the Israel Tennis Centers and secretary-treasurer of a large private foundation in Los Angeles.
Robert L. Golden, CPA
Bob graduated from the University of Southern California in 1984. He then worked for Ernst & Young through 1989, performing financial statement audits for publicly held companies in the entertainment, healthcare and insurance industries. Bob then joined Good, Swartz, Brown & Berns ("GSBB" - now CohnReznick) where he stayed until 2004. While at GSBB, Bob performed financial statement reviews and income tax planning and preparation for middle market businesses and their owners in industries including manufacturing, wholesale, promotional products, real estate, construction and engineering and more. While at GSBB and continuing today, Bob consults with his middle-market business clients to assist their entrepreneurial owners better understand the financial performance of their businesses and to help them improve operational efficiencies and profitability by acting as their outside CFO. Bob also assists with structuring and negotiating financing, compensation planning, as well as merger and acquisition activities. After leaving GSBB in 2004, in addition to continuing to provide consulting services to middle-market companies, Bob was the owner and CEO of several companies and also syndicated commercial real estate acquisitions. In 2015, Bob decided to go back to his roots and passion of public accounting on a full-time basis and merged his practice with Cohen & Bender to create CBG. In addition to being a CPA, Bob is registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as a licensed Investment Adviser Representative. Bob is also a member of the Board of Directors of a publicly held company.
Irene Maryoung, CPA
Irene graduated from California State University, Northridge with Bachelor of Science degrees in both accounting and finance. Upon graduation, she spent five years at Green, Hasson, Janks LLP in West Los Angeles performing reviews and audits as well as preparing tax returns for middle market companies. She then left public accounting to become the controller of a boutique stock brokerage firm in Century City. After realizing that she wanted to return to public accounting, she joined Cohen, Bender & Wall for three years after meeting Rick Bender. While at the firm, she expanded her income tax skills to include high net worth individuals and their businesses. After her first stint with the firm, she left and joined Armanino LLP, (formerly RBZ, LLP) where she spent seventeen years providing consulting and business management services, income tax planning and preparation services for high net worth individuals and their families in the entertainment, professional services, real estate, restaurant, retail and wholesale industries. Before returning to CBG, she spent spent two years with a mid sized local firm in Century City as a Tax Principal. At CBG, Irene will be overseeing much of our tax practice and working with our middle market business clients, business owners and other individuals and their related entities including partnerships, LLC's, S and C Corps and trusts. In addition, Irene will be involved in our business management / outsourced accounting department.
Judy Leung, CPA
Senior Tax Accountant
Judy graduated from the University of Phoenix with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. She joined a local CPA firm in West Los Angeles where she started as a bookkeeper and worked her way up to become a tax accountant. After obtaining her CPA license, she joined a mid-sized local CPA firm in Century City where she assisted and advised small business owners with various tax filings. She also worked on business management clients from various industries and expanded her tax knowledge to include real estate and high net worth individuals. At CBG, Judy will be working directly with clients providing both tax and business management needs.
